About JMP 2019
The objectives of JMP 2019 include
Inform stakeholders of the reforms to facilitate investment in the mining and petroleum sectors
Identify innovative financing solutions which can be applied to both large and small-scale mining projects and services
Improve both the quality and access to data relating to Mali’s geological infrastructure
Diversification of Mali’s mining sector analysing new opportunities for mineral and petroleum exploration and production
Create linkages between the mining sector and other sectors to stimulate diverse economic activities.
Add value to Mali’s mining production through local transformation
Protect the social and natural environment through local content development, good practise and sustainability

Mali a global mining power, confidently entering its next stage of growth
Mali produced 60.8 tonnes of gold in 2018, making it the third largest producer on the African continent
The country’s gold mines include: Loulo Gounkoto, Yatela, Sadiola, Gounkoto, Tabakoto, Metedia, Fekola, Komana, Kondieran, Kalana, Morila, Nampala and Syama
Gold mines which are expected to enter production in the next few years include: Finkolo, Banankoro and Kobada
Mali is currently revising its mining code in order to make it more investor friendly as well as incorporating sounder social and environmental considerations.
Mali is building increased capacity for the mining sector through 1: 50,000 mapping
project for the entire Birimian area, creating a modern documentation centre and the establishment of the African Mining School project
