Mr. Craig Sillars, Sector Specialist, Mining and Infrastructure, UK Department of International Trade
Craig Sillars is currently a retained Sector Specialist for UK Department of International Trade identifying and promoting UK companies involved in all aspects of goods and services in mining and mine related infrastructure. His current focus is on mine enabled economic development corridors in Africa working with both the private sector and African Governments. He is a Chartered Geologist with a BSc in Geology and a Masters in Engineering Geology.
Craig runs his own independent Management Consultancy business and is an experienced former Managing Director and CEO who has worked with both the private and public sector. His career has exposed him to many different sectors starting as a Consultant delivering ground investigations and foundation design for urban development and infrastructure, to landfill design and construction, to investigation of contaminated land and development of remediation and restoration strategies. Moved into contracting as a Managing Director of an award winning pioneering remediation contractor who managed the restoration of all forms of industrial contamination for large FTSE 100/Fortune 500 companies to help manage their corporate environmental liability. He pioneered the introduction of numerous world leading remediation technologies particularly thermal remediation solutions to deliver rapid, more robust solutions to effect improved corporate liability management. He subsequently moved into mine restoration, agriculture development in Africa and renewable energy provision as CEO of technology off-shoot of the UK Forestry Commission.
