  • Stations will be available through the site for sanitising and hand washing
  • A one-way entry and exit to site will be clearly signposted

Visa

To apply for a visa to the Republic of Guinea you will require:

Visa Application Form

  • A visa can be obtained within 72 hours usually but check first with the Embassy or Consulate
  • A valid passport
  • Completed 2 Application forms
  • 2 Pictures (Passport size);
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate
  • A letter stating the purpose of your trip to Guinea;
  • Payment of your visa fees

You do not require a visa to travel to Guinea if you are from one of the ECOWAS zone countries or Algeria, Cuba, Egypt, Mauritania, Morocco, Tanzania, or Tunisia. However please note that your passport needs to be valid for six months.

What funds to bring with you?

All of the hotels listed above accept credit cards; however it is recommended that you bring some cash funds with you either in euros or dollars. 1.00 EUR = 10139.32 GNF 

What should I bring with me to Conakry? 

  • A yellow fever certificate – this is mandatory and you may be asked for this on arrival
  • A photocopy of your passport – as it is always advisory to carry your ID with you
  • Insurance – you are responsible for arranging your own travel cover
  • Credit card – Visa and American Express are accepted at the main hotels Master Card is not widely known in Guinea
  • Medical Kit – always a good option just in case
  • Malaria tablets and mosquito spray – you are in a malarial zone
  • Your mobile phone – you can buy a local SIM for $5 or less

 What time zone is Guinea in? 

Guinea Standard Time operates on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) 

Health issues

  • A Yellow Fever vaccination given at least ten days before entry into Guinee is required. 
  • Immunisation against Epidemic Meningitis with a multi-valent meningitis vaccine is advisable, although the risk in the urban area is low.
  • Please make sure your immunisations against Polio, Tetanus, and Hepatitis A are up to date, although the risk for these diseases is not higher in Guinee than in any other country of the Global South.  
  • Malaria prevention is the most important precaution to take. You should not travel without a bottle of mosquito repellent and use it any time you plan to be outdoors in the evening. If malaria is not common where you live, you should also take prophylactic medication. Malaria in Guinea is resistant to Chloroquine. Use another recommended prophylactic drug, for instance Doxycycline. If you develop a fever within two weeks after return from Guinea, consult your doctor immediately

Can I drink the water in Guinea? 

It is strongly recommended that you drink bottled water when you are there. 

What voltage is used? 

If you are taking any electronic items to Guinea, the voltage requirement is 220 Volts.
